Believe Me
03:05
|
|||
When you're alone and afraid
of the choices that you've made
You can see the forest for the trees
If you just take a step back
When you feel full of doubt
Know that you're not down and
I will always be there to pick you up
You never are alone
Happiness you give will
Be returned in full
There is no magic formula
Nothing quixotical
Just take it at face value
and take it all to heart
I'll be just behind
You're always in my heart
The fire in your eyes
Will never be put out
You can work through any problem
and extinguish any doubt
There is life left to be lived
and experiences and on
You'll always be in front of me
The reason for my song

Don't Forget
02:01
|
|||
You know that you are my friend
and friendship is a thing we don't forget
Through the good times and the pain
The way I feel about you still remains
There is a bond
We forge in life
Stronger than all
It is a light
Can't put down
No matter how hard
You know the time we spent together
Keeps the friendship strong
Life goes on
We're still here
We have a bond
like high tensile steel
It won't bend
Neither will we
If you need anything in life
you can always come to me

Unending Hope

It doesn't take much to get you down. Young, old - we all have challenges that test our mettle. Things we don't want to face, things we put off. But, eventually, we find our way back every time. We look at it every day and pretend that it isn't there. We try and look the other way hoping it didn't see us. But, like a rabid starving dog, it has our scent. Eventually - it finds us.
Don't hide behind a happy face
When there's pain down below
Face your anger
Face your rage
Face your sorrow and let it show
I can't do this on my own.
Reach out.
I know that things aren't easy but
You'll see if you trust me that
We can persevere through the dark of night and see the morning so
We all cling to hope knowing
It may not work out at all
If only for your smile
that's a price worth fighting for.
If We wait around for someone to come and save us
We'll only be looking up and not see the ground give way below
We are the authors of our stories
The actors directed off screen
and, eventually, the lights come up the curtain comes down
We can fight against it. Editing, in hopes of a better ending.
We can dismiss chapters as juvenile, or inaccurate.
But copies already exist, as we write them; and, eventually, the light comes up and the curtain comes down.

Loser
01:53
|
|||
Suffer alone and you
try to work things out
But you're always sabotaging
Filling yourself with doubt
You can't feel alive
When you dwell on things long gone
and only misery has grown
When your time's at an end
and you think on what you've done
Will you say that you were
always looking out for number one
You lost so many friends
that you can't keep count
and no one's gonna be there when you're down and out
You've got friends that you
need to call upon
Don't tackle life divided
together we are strong
You can't win the war
When you don't ask for a hand
We'll lift you up and help you stand

Can't Lose
03:00
|

A born fighter that never stops trying
With the world pushing down he persists
Struggling, persevering - he will never know failure
Feeling the weight of the world, he continues
For family, for honor, for friendship
He will never give up
Cause when your back's to the wall
and their hand's on your neck
you've gotta be strong
you've gotta fight back
or you will find
they've got a hold on you
Just stand up straight
and push back on
what they say is right
but you know is wrong
and you will see it through
I cannot wait for
what becomes of you
Never outmatched, outnumbered
Stay gold, stay true
Through his lifetime he struggles
Setbacks and disappointments
but he does not quit
Those losses make him stronger
Make him who he is
Strength beyond strength
A victor amongst cowards
this is what it is to be strong

Boys on a playground
Men in an office
Trying to make this round peg fit
When are we're meant to do
Is work and school and work and school
If that's all there is I quit
I'm already halfway to the weekend
I'm already halfway out the door
I know exactly how you're feeling
and I just can't take anymore
Life in a vacuum
Nothing but failing
Need something to help break through
This mediocrity of sleep and eat and then repeat
is not the life I want to choose
Get me through to the weekend
